Blogmas Day 19 || Favourite Festive Foods

Happy Blogmas Day 19!  Another late post,  I don't even know what I have done today but it has gone so fast!  Anyway here are six of my favourite festive food products!

1. Mince Pies

I never used to like mince pies, but now I am older I have grown to like them.  I don't eat them everyday but I might have one once, maybe twice, a week.  I do prefer them homemade, but Sainsbury's bakery is doing brilliantly this year!

2. Chocolate Roulade

last years' didn't turn out so great!
Having homemade chocolate roulade is becoming a bit of a new tradition in our household.  Way back in year 9 myself and my friend Ella decided to cook a chocolate roulade each in one of our Home Economic classes.  It turned out so well my family wanted it the next year and then the next, and so on.  Anyway, I tend to make it on the 22nd or 23rd December so we can have some on Christmas Eve evening.  Seriously cannot wait for this years one!

3. Satsumas

Mum always buys satsumas around this time of year because they are quite a Christmas-y fruit.  Anyway, I am loving them this year, again thank you to Sainsbury's!

4. Stuffing
OMG!  Who doesn't love a bit of stuffing?  It has got to be one of my favourite parts of the Christmas Dinner.  I don't particularly know how to describe it if you aren't familiar of it, but it is a starch that can to be used to stuff poultry, vegetables, meats or seafood but can also be used to make stuffing balls.  We tend to have sage and onion stuffing balls which are just amazing!

5. Parsnips
Parsnips are probably my favourite vegetable at the Christmas Dinner.  I like mine slightly burnt!  I think I like them so much because I only have them at Christmas, so I probably get far too excited about them then I should!

6. Chocolate

I love the massive round boxes of chocolate which are sold at Christmas - Quality Streets, Celebrations, Heroes and Roses.  But selection boxes are always apart of our family Christmas as well!  Terry's chocolate orange is probably my favourite Christmas chocolate, it just tastes so good!  Basically Christmas is definitely a time for chocolate eating!

There was some of my favourite festive/Christmas foods, what are some of yours?  I hope you enjoyed the post and I will be back tomorrow for Blogmas Day 20! Not long now guys :)

Blogmas Day 18 || German Christmas Market

So today a couple of friends and myself went into town to visit the German Christmas Market and go ice skating outside.  I haven't been into town specifically for the German Market before so I was feeling extra festive.

The Christmas lights were on and as the day got darker the lights became more beautiful.

It took us a while to get to the ice rink due to building constructions, but it was totally worth the extra walk.  I have always wanted to go ice skating outside at Christmas time with fairy lights on, and I will definitely be doing it again!  It had been years since we both last ice skated, so it took us a while to get back into it, but we soon managed to ice skate without holding onto the sides! Nat and I did fall over five minutes before our time was up and as I stupidly wore blue denim jeans it looked like I wet myself!

Zakiyah and myself also went on the carousel, which was in the middle of the market, and was super cute and festive.

There are a range of stalls there, such as ones selling luxury chocolates, Christmas decorations and handmade hats.  There are also food stands ranging from traditional German Christmas food like stollen to hot dogs.  German beer and mulled wine is also a major concept of the German Market as well, as there are many stalls selling them.

I had an amazingly festive day, and I cannot believe it is already Blogmas day 18 and there is only one week till Christmas!

I hope everyone enjoyed this post, let me know what you love to do to get you in the festive spirit!

Blogmas Day 17 || Yankee Candle Advent Calendar

So for today's post, I will go through my thoughts on my advent calendar as it is very different to a traditional picture or chocolate calendar.  Obviously, I haven't opened all the doors but with the Yankee Advent Calendar you get five different scents candles, which I have all five now.  (Of course, you get more than one of each five of the calendars)

Angel Wings // this, for me anyway, is a more subtle scent but is still amazing.  Now I am not the best at describing candle scents, but Angel Wings is more soft vanilla and has a hint of floral in it.  It is definitely not a traditional Christmas smell.

Icicles // If this even makes sense, the scent of this candle is definitely more of a cool sent than a warm scent such as cinnamon

Cinnamon Sticks // this is the typical spicy scented candle which many people will think of Christmas when they smell it.

Snowflake Cookie // this is more on the sweet side of a Christmas scent.  For me it reminds me of Christmas baking, hence the name of 'snowflake cookie' so if you don't like the traditional Christmas scents and you are more of a sweet person, this is definitely the Christmas candle for you.

Christmas Memories // from the name it has been given, you can tell that its scent is just what Christmas is about.  It has a mixture spice and sweet scents making it remind you of different Christmas times.

Just apologising because the candle has obviously been burnt before the photo

Christmas Garland // This smells of Christmas tree!!  The candle is very much on the nature side of scents, which I absolutely love.  I think everyone should have this in their house at Christmas because this is my favourite one!

When burning the candles, the room is filled with Christmas scents, and makes me feel even more festive.  Not only that, the tea lights last a long time!  I even have a back-log of candles to still light because they last longer than one evening.

Price // £20 from Boots

I hope you enjoyed reading this Blogmas post, and come back tomorrow for a very festive post!

I have officially broken up form Sixth Form for the Christmas holidays and to celebrate myself and a few friends are having a sleepover!

Blogmas Day 16 || My 100th Post!

MY 100TH POST!

I have been blogging for nearly 2 years now, and I know quite a lot of bloggers would have already hit 100 posts but as I started blogging in my GCSE exam year and I am now I am in my last year of A Levels I had to juggle studying with blogging, as well as a bunch of other things.

I started blogging on 2nd January 2014 and I cannot believe I am still doing it and have now posted 100 posts! I just want to say thank you for reading, liking or commenting on any of my posts, it means a lot.

The original reason why I started blogging was the fact I have always liked the idea of being able to write what you want on something that is just yours.  I also liked the idea of having somewhere to go to, to look at photos and read about things I have done and loved in my life.

Today, blogging for me is pretty much the same thing.

When I was younger I used to be so much more outgoing than I am now;  I used to love being on stage and I didn't care what people thought of me.  But once I started secondary school I became shy, less confident in myself and a lot more insecure about everything in my life.  So I thought through blogging I might be able to develop my confidence, self-esteem and become a bit more like what I used to be.

In a way that has exactly what happened, but I will never be as carefree as I was when I was 6 or 10 years old, which is a shame because I miss that so much.

Blogging has also made me realise my love for photography.  I always loved disposable cameras and getting them developed and printed and when my Mum got a digital camera for her birthday I always wanted a go.  Blogging made me become better and now I take photos of loads of things, especially places I have been.

So basically this is just a massive thank you for everything and I wanted to let you know a bit more of why I started blogging and why I stuck at it.

I know this isn't Christmas-y and it's very word-y but I needed to celebrate my 100th post!

Anyway, tomorrow's Blogmas post should be a lot more photo based! Hope everyone is enjoying Blogmas so far, not long now till the big day!

Blogmas Day 15 || Weird(ish) Christmas Items

Can I just say, today Izzy and I got the weekend tickets to Summer In The City 2016! If you don't know what it is, it's a YouTube convention in London, which Izzy and I have been wanting to go for years and finally we got the tickets!  It isn't until August but we are already buzzed for it!

Anyway, lets get on with the actual post shall we?

So we have some weird items that we get out at Christmas time, some of them have more of a weird story behind then than actually looking weird.

1. German Christmas Shot Glass

The weird thing about this Christmas item is that it isn't necessarily Christmas-y but we only get it out at Christmas time.  This is because my brother picked it out when we went into a Christmas shop in Germany about 3 years ago and we were both told we could pick an item.  Therefore I picked a Christmas Gingerbread Man bauble for the tree and my brother, who would have been about 12 or 13 at the time, wanted a shot glass!  For me that was slightly weird...

2.  Creepy Angel

I just find this angel slightly on the creepy side of beautiful!  We used to have a cardboard angel which I made when I was about 6 years old until we decided we should really get one that would actually last, so my Mum bought this angel from John Lewis and spent a lot on it.  I'm not sure about you but dolls/angels that look like this just always look weird and creepy to me, so this angel just does not say Christmas to me at all.

3. Tacky Light Canvas

You can't really tell from the photograph, because it was noon when I took it, but this Christmas canvas from Notcutts (a garden centre) has actual lights on it.  I initially thought it was cool and strangely nice but one year later and I'm thinking it is more on the tacky side, especially with the sliver tinsel!

So there are some of the more weird Christmas decorations we have in our household.  Do you have any weird Christmas/holiday items?

I cannot believe we only have 10 days left until Christmas Day and I only have 3 hours of lessons left until the Christmas holidays which are all on Thursday!  Seriously cannot wait to start feeling extremely Christmas-y at home and with my friends and family.  Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the post and I will see you tomorrow for Blogmas Day 16 and for a special post!

Blogmas Day 14 || My Not-So Festive Favourite Christmas Movies

I got the inspiration for this post from my friend Izzy.

I cannot believe it is already Blogmas Day 14! That's two weeks of daily blogging, crazy! Anyway, in this post I will share with you my favourite movies to watch at Christmas which aren't Christmas movies.

1. Harry Potter

I always love Harry Potter at any time of the year but I always watch it around Christmas time.  The scenes where it snows and Hogwarts has the Christmas tree up and has all the festive decorations and banquets just makes me feel so Christmas-y.

2. The Bridge to Terabithia

Bridge to Terabithia is one of my all time favourites! I remember watching it the first time on CBBC when I was younger around Christmas time and for so many years I didn't know what the movie was called, so when I found out I watched it around Christmas every year after.

3. Billy Elliot

Okay, Billy Elliot has got to be in the top 3 of my favourite movies ever .  The story and the message it gets across is something everyone should know.  It tells the story of a young boy, Billy, who just wants to dance but he faces the problems of his father's disapproval and money.  If you haven't watched it give it a go and I dare you to try not to cry at the end!

4.  Mary Poppins
When I was younger, on Boxing Day at my Nan's, she would have Mary Poppins on the TV.  So I have since associated it with the festive time of the year.  I haven't really watched Mary Poppins recently but whenever I do it always seems to around Christmas.

5. Disney Movies

I know Mary Poppins is Disney, but I just feel that Disney movies in general are watched a lot throughout the Christmas season, last year I watched Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan and probably some others!  Obviously I watch them at any point of the year but at Christmas time for me, they are watched a lot more.

I hope you enjoyed this post, have you got any not-so festive Christmas movies you love?

Blogmas Day 13 || Favourite Vlogmas'

So today I decided to share with you some of my favourite YouTubers I watch for Vlogmas, there are some which I always watch and some new ones.  I thought because YouTube is quite a big part of my life, it would be nice to include it in my Blogmas.  So lets get cracking shall we...

Tanya Burr/Chapman

Tanya is always my favourite YouTuber who does Vlogmas, and every year without a doubt I will be watching her vlogs everyday.  She is just so festive and happy which always puts a smile on my face even if I had a bad or stressful day.

Zoe(lla) is another who I watch every year.  I think Zoe and Tanya are probably the most festive YouTubers.  Zoe's vlogs are also usually really long; about 20-30 minutes, so its great to sit down at the end of the day and relax with a hot drink whilst watching her Vlogmas.

Louise always seems to to be funny and her vlogs are always cute to watch.  This year she has already got a range of vlogs up, from stay at home doing work vlogs and visiting family to days out such as Christmas partying and the Clothes show.  If you don't like the half hour long vlogs, Louise's are brilliant as they are usually about 10 minutes long which is just a nice length to watch before school/work.

I love Gabby, I just feel I can relate to her a lot of the time, she is hilarious and watching her daily life is just really interesting to me.  I also watch her vlogs throughout the year a lot as well because I just think her videos and editing are just amazing.

Hannah

Hannah is doing weekly vlogmas as she is still in sixth form.  I love Hannah's main channel videos so I thought it would be interesting to see what she gets up to as well, especially because she is
my age, as I am in sixth form too.  I just think Hannah is hilarious so definitely give her Vlogmas a watch, if you haven't already.

Who are you watching for Vlogmas this year?

Hope you all had a good weekend, I only have one more week left of school till the holidays.  Well, technically only 3-ish days left!
