Curly Wurly Shampoo // Lush Hair Product Review

After watching Carrie Flecther's Hair routine for her curly hair I decided to follow in her footsteps and get the hair products she uses for her hair as we have fairly similar hair.

One of the products was the Curly Wurly shampoo from Lush, now I never really ventured into the hair products of lush before but as I love lush, in much need to sort out my hair and Carrie recommended it I though why not.  I've also been trying my best to go cruelty free with hair and skin products and of course Lush is famous for their animal rights campaigns and pride themselves on being cruelty free.

First Thoughts
The smell of the product was extremely strong, but it didn't put me off using it. The fact that it had real pieces of coconut in the shampoo emphasised how good it was going to be for my hair.   I can never fully see any major differences when changing my shampoo as my hair is naturally curly, frizzy and dry but this shampoo definitely made a difference.  It is a lot different to any other shampoos I have tried before, but I was just intrigued to see the results.


Application
It's a very thick shampoo and you have to work it into your scalp quite hard with a lot of water to create it a more foaming texture.  The pieces of coconut do wash out of your hair easily though, thank God!

Scent
It is a very strong scent of coconut, but it isn't as strong once you have washed it out.  Since using this shampoo and the American Cream conditioner (also from Lush), my hair has just smelt amazing.  I normally like the smell of coconuts, I'm not a massive fan but I do like it, however I don't particularly like how strong the coconut scent of the shampoo before it's in my hair but it doesn't stop me from using it, so if you don't like coconut and cannot get over the smell of it, maybe this product isn't for you.

Does it work?
I definietly feel like it has made my hair a lot softer than it used it be before I used the product.  My hair is never going to be 'shiny and silky' unless I straighten it and even then it isn't always shiny, but the product does reduces the frizz and dryness of my hair.

I got the 220g and I wash my hair 2-3 times a week as it doesn't get greasy much at all.  I use a fair/generous amount and I have been using it for a month now and I'm probably just about hitting 1/4 of the way through, so the price, for some, may seem a lot but it lasts ages due to thick consistency of it.

Recommend?
If you have naturally curly and frizzy hair I would definitely recommend this product, I don't think I have fallen in love with a shampoo product as much as this one!  Especially if you pair it with the American Cream conditioner.

If you like this review, I might  do review the conditioner I use alongside this shampoo the 'American Cream' which smells lush by the way (pun not intended!)

June Music Favourites 2016

This month is only going to be a Music Favourite as that's basically all I've been doing the past month to aid my revision...

You are in for a rocky ride as my music taste is not the typical teenage girl; it is all over the place from a bit of pop to alternative and indie rock - there's a bit for everyone I suppose!

Treat You Better // Shawn Mendes

Shawn released a new single 'Treat You Better' at the start of this month and let's face the inevitable fact; it is amazing.  As anyone who has read some of my favourites before may have noticed a common theme of Shawn Mendes!  I absolutely love his voice and music and this song was definitely no different.  As the title implies, Shawn is singing about how he could treat this particular person better than the partner they are presently with.  If you haven't heard it yet, I fully recommend it as you are missing out

All Star // Smash Mouth

I don't really know why but myself and my brother have been singing and listening to this song a lot this month.  I have seemed to listen to it a lot over the past couple of months but this song seems to be my 'go to song' when I want to smile and a good singalong.

The 1975

What a surprise!  Yet again another band I always go on about on my blog!  This month their song You and some of their songs on their self titled debut album 'The 1975' have been getting me through revision.  Can I also say how they smashed Glastonbury this year, I watched their live performance on BBC iplayer on Saturday evening and it just made me want to go back to their concert I went to in March!

Catfish and the Bottlemen

I'm not sure if I have mentioned this band on my blog before but this month I have definitely been listening to the Bottlemen a hell of a lot!  Their new song 'Twice' is just brilliant, they have a more of a rock sense to them.  I don't know what it is about them but I absolutely love their music!  If you prefer more alternative and indie rock, you will love this band.

Send My Love // Adele

Who doesn't love a bit of Adele in their life?  This song definitely gets me moving!  It is just so upbeat and sassy and Adele, once again, slays.  I absolutely love Adele, her voice is just beautiful, along with the rest of herself of course!  If you're not into the big ballads or slow songs of hers I would recommend this, it is much more upbeat and as she describes it as 'happy you're gone' type of song.  It is a lot more about the moving on and escaping of the relationship rather than the holding on to it.

Life Update || Where Have I Been?

So.  It's been a while.  The last post I uploaded was my traumatic experience of getting to and from a Shawn Mendes concert back in May!

I was meaning to blog a lot more since then, but life got in the way I suppose.  I had to focus on my last year of A Level exams, but I had my last one yesterday afternoon and now I am free!  I can live my life the way I want to and I don't have the stress of exams anymore (other than results day!).

I cannot wait to start to blog more and be more creative...

I have so many exciting and adventurous things planned this summer, then instead of going to uni this year, I'm having a gap year!  

I will be uploading a lot more consistently and frequently now I have finished A Levels and sixth form which I have been looking forward to do for ages!

 
I had my last day ever at the school at the end of May where I have been attending to for the past 7 years and I have met some amazing people and life long friends, but it is definitely my time to go and to end that chapter of my life.

I will probably upload a separate post reflecting on my sixth form life, A Levels and the past two years but for now I can say it was definitely a whirlwind of emotions and feelings.

Shawn Mendes Concert 2016

So Friday night Izzy and I went down to London to see Shawn Mendes Live, I have been loving his music and listening to him for years now, so I was excited to see him perform live.  

Friday was a very eventful day (to say the least).  It felt like anything that could go wrong on the way to the venue did and we just weren't meant to go, but we made it, just about. 

So as this was the first time we were going to be properly experiencing the centre of London on our own without our parents we naturally we chose the train that got into London just at the peak of rush hour...good one!

Like I said we had a lot of things that went wrong on the way down to the concert, here is an idea of what we had to deal with...

Our train was delayed - we got to the station at 2:30pm and the train didn't come till 4pm!

We had no idea how to work the tube - legit we didn't even know how to buy the tickets let alone read a tube map

We went to the wrong platform so we ended up on the tube going the wrong way (multiple times) - we didn't know about the northbound, southbound etc until about the second time we got off the tube and saw a sign to northbound bakerloo

Paddington stop (the one we needed) was closed - we only noticed when we were in the tube itself as we were heading to Paddington station, so we had to ask the woman next to us and we followed her as she seemed to know her way better than us

We had an 1 hour 40 minute train journey down and then we somehow ended up spending about another hour 'tubing' and it was about 7:30pm when we got to Hammersmith which we were aimlessly walking around trying finding the venue even though I knew it was directly opposite the tube station we still couldn't find it...

We hadn't eaten since we left the house other than half a chocolate bar each (thanks Izzy) and I bought a wrap at the station but as we were going into the venue they took it off me, and believe me this was when I was starting to get hangry (sorry Izzy).

Anyway were got there just in time to watch the supporting act James TW (with my kettle crisps I bought from the bar inside). 

When Shawn came on Izzy and I were both blown away.  It was absolutely amazing, my favourite part was when he got the whole audience to be quite and he sung the end of Aftertaste acoustically, no microphone, no guitar, no backing music, just him on stage.  It actually bought tears to my eyes, and I am not even joking when I say that. 

Unfortunately due to the last train to our station leaving at 22:37 we had a taxi booked at 22:00 so we had to leave before the end, after only an hour of him coming on stage, just gives us an excuse to see him again!

Turns out our taxi didn't turn up or we couldn't see him so we had to run to the tube station.

We were still on the first tube train from Hammersmith to Baker Street at 22:37 so I was stressing the hell out!  We did, however, find out earlier in the day if we did miss our train there was another train at 23:07 going to a different station but it was close enough one of our parents would pick us up so we had to aim for that one instead.

We were literally legging it through the stations to try and get that train (it was the first time I saw Izzy running!) or we would be sleeping rough that night...

Eventually we just about made it and I seriously cannot believe we did it!

So that was our little adventure to London to see Shawn Mendes, it was a little more eventful than I thought it would be!

April Favourites

Troye Sivan

Who doesn't love a bit of Troye Sivan?  I have been listening to so much of his music at the moment.  Some of my friends and I went to see him live and wow was he amazing?!  It's taken me a while, but I have found my favourites on his album; for him, youth, talk me down and cool!

Checked Skirt // H&M

Lately I have been wearing a red checked skirt from H&M, I just think it suits my body type and is comfortable to wear.  I find it so easy to dress up with heeled boots and a black coat or dress down with a denim jacket.

Life Unexpected

This month I released I hadn't actually watched season 2 of Life Unexpected, which was well...unexpected! (ahaha)  Anyway I wanted to re-watch the whole of season 1 again since the last time I watched it was last summer and I needed something to easily binge watch that I didn't need 100% concentrate on.  I ended up watching the 2 seasons within one week!  It is a very cheesy teen drama programme and I did find myself cringing at some scenes but I just couldn't not watch it, it was so easy to watch and addictive. 

Bates Motel

Oh My God!  Bates Motel just gets better and better as the episodes go on.  Since I have caught up and season 4 is coming out with weekly episodes and it is always the time of the week that I look forward to do.  This season is definitely a lot more darker and you are getting to know what really happened in Norman's childhood.  I don't want to give anything away yet but I would say it is definitely my favourite show at the moment.

Orphan Black

When I saw that Netflix put season 3 of Orphan Black on I was so excited to see where the show was heading, I watched the season within a week.  Now Netflix has taken over the BBC Drama for season 4 and weekly episodes are being released.  If you don't know, the programme is a science fiction thriller drama series about clones, focusing on Sarah Manning.  If you are into something that keeps you concentrated, is highly thrilling and is a bit different, you'll love Orphan Black.  Tatiana Maslany, who plays all the clones, is an extremely good actress and you her talent is definitely highlighted in this programme.

Helen Anderson

I saw Helen in her band, Box of Light, last January with Izzy but recently I subscribed to her vlogging channel which she uploads on daily with 5-8 minute daily vlogs and I have been loving them so much!  I have been watching her vlogs every day since the end of March and they're just something I look forward to see in my subscription box.  I love how she films and edits them, as well as the length of them because I don't have enough time to watch a 30 minute daily vlog every day.

York

Myself and my friend, Harleen, went on a day trip to York city at the start of this month as we were both thinking about going to York University and we wanted a look around the area.  Even though it was raining and not the best weather, I had an amazing time and would definitely go back again.   It was definitely a day I want to remember.

So we have just done a 1/3 of the year, how crazy is that!  I hope you all have had an amazing April and that May only gets better for you all, enjoy your bank holiday!

Troye Sivan Concert 2016

So yesterday myself and several of my friends had tickets to see Troye Sivan in his last gig in the UK of his Blue Neighbourhood Tour.  

We knew it was going to be mega busy as the concert sold out extremely quickly and since we had standing tickets we got in line at around 1:30pm.

We had 4 hours and a half to wait until they opened the doors and let us in but we somehow managed to make it go by fairly quickly, with multiple loo trips, grabbing a Costa and ordering a pizza.

Anyway, the concert itself was out of this world crazy!  It was seriously amazing, one of the best nights of my life.

Astrid S was supporting Troye and I have heard some of her songs before and knew I liked her, so it was cool to get to see her live too.

And the one and only Troye came on at around 8pm (so 6 and a half hours after we arrived!) and it was so worth the wait.  We weren't crazy close and we did have a couple of people who seemed like 6 foot in front of us but when we saw Troye he was actually quite close.

I definitely recommend that if you ever get the chance to see Troye in concert, take the offer because he was amazing!

Can I just say how amazing he was at performing his songs live!  It is crazy to see him live after years of watching his YouTube videos.  Youth was the last song he played and I think it might have been my favourite that he performed!

Review || Halsey Mac Lipstick

First Thoughts

When I heard about Halsey releasing her limited Mac lipstick I knew it wouldn't be a typical lipstick colour!  When I saw it was a slate blue grey colour I thought it was so cool!  I wasn't sure if it would suit me but because I love Halsey and it is a limited edition I thought why not and I would treat myself.  The consistency and appliance is amazing, but I am just unsure whether it actually suits me.

Application
If you own any Mac lipsticks you will know the formula is amazing and so easy to apply.  The only problem with this particular lipstick is the colour of it.  You need to be pretty precise with a slate grey blue lipstick and I don't own any lip liner in this colour to help me.  Other than that it is just as good as any other Mac lipstick.

How long it lasts
It is like any other matte mac lipsticks; it lasts for hours!  I tested at home first because I didn't want to wear it out without knowing when I should top it up.  It seems to last a good 4 hours plus, that's including drinking and eating which I thought was pretty good!

How to style it

I would style it with a basic simple face, just something natural as the statement of the make up will be the lip product obviously!  But if I was going 'out out' I would probably have a cool toned smokey eye to complement the cool tone of the lips.

Extra Thoughts...
The lipstick is not drying which is what I hate in some matte lipsticks!  I always moisturise my lips and use a scrub to make sure the lipstick doesn't look or isn't too drying on them; even after a couple of hours the lipstick wasn't patchy, tight or drying on the lips.

If you're brave enough, definitely!
